From Namche Bazaar we climb toward Pangboche under the shadow of Ama Dablam, passing the great monasteries of the Khumbu, then push higher to Dingboche at 4,410 m. We take an acclimatization day as heavy snow rolls in — and celebrate a very special birthday at the roof of the world.
