We Escaped Milan’s Heat and Found a Cinematic Summer Day at Lake Como & Villa del Balbianello

This time, I prepared a little surprise for Paolo — a day trip to Lake Como. Starting from Milan, we began our morning with a classic breakfast at PAUL, slowly turning it into a little tradition of ours. We then took a boat to Villa del Balbianello, where we discovered the extraordinary life of explorer Guido Monzino through his collections and stories, and unexpectedly found a beautiful connection with Tibetan culture from the East. Leaving the villa behind, we continued our journey to Varenna. On a summer day above 30 degrees, we enjoyed the gentle breeze across the lake, a delicious gelato, and the simple happiness of being there together. As the weather suddenly changed, with a summer storm approaching and mist floating between the mountains, we saw a different side of Lake Como — one that felt more mysterious, dramatic, and deeply moving.
