Rembetiki Compañía de Barcelona - Obi Obi Bi (The Sponge Diver's Song)

Rembetiki Compañía de Barcelona performes "Obi obi bi" ("I Paliotrehandira" by Perdikopoulos) during COVID-19 confinement of 2020. This is song dedicated to the Sponge Divers from the islands of Dodekaneso (mostly from Kalimnos and Simi) who were putting their lifes in a great danger in order to fish sponges from all around the eastern Mediterranean sea and the Golf of Mexico. For the video we used fragments from the 1950's movie "Οι σφουγγαράδες της Σύμης" (Simi's Sponge Divers) and photos from the internet and we don't claim de copyright.
