When I was a child, I found a poem my mother wrote for the woman who raised her. I fell in love with it and over the years, I have looked for a way to immortalized this piece.
When I began writing lyrics and rearranging my own poetry into songs, I asked her if she would allow me to do the same with her poem. She agreed and I was ecstatic! Her only request was that it be sung by a male baritone, which I was more than happy to oblige.
This is her masterpiece! ❤️✨️
Lyrics:
When I look at you Mother
You're all I see,
The woman who raised me and fixed my scraped knee.
Each time I see you
You're ageless to me,
I don't see you grow older the way I do me.
I see the Mother that I've always known,
My Mom who blew me kisses
And played with me in the snow.
It makes it very hard to say what I feel,
I want you to know that I Love You
And I always will.
When I look at you Mother
You're all I see,
The woman who raised me and fixed my scraped knee.
Each time I see you
You're ageless to me,
I don't see you grow older the way I do me.
I remember when you were a young woman too,
Just a short while ago and young at heart still.
You're more than my mother, you're my best friend too.
To me you are the most beautiful woman in the world.
When I look at you Mother
You're all I see,
The woman who raised me and fixed my scraped knee.
Each time I see you
You're ageless to me,
I don't see you grow older the way I do me.
I know that you still have all your hopes and your dreams.
You're still young and vibrant and still learning things.
When I look at you Mother
You're all I see,
The woman who raised me and fixed my scraped knee.
Each time I see you
You're ageless to me,
I don't see you grow older the way I do me.
No matter what your age is, or what reflection you may see,
You'll always be MY MOTHER who fixed my scraped knee.
