Got an old Wilton bullet vise? Pull the front jaw off and flip the slide key underneath. The date stamped there may not be the year your vise was made. If "GUAR EXP" appears above it, collectors read it as the end of a five-year guarantee, so the vise is about five years older.
This video shows how to read the Wilton slide stamp three ways: a plain date, a GUAR EXP date, and a blank slide from the early Pat Pend years when Wilton sold vises to the U.S. government. You'll also learn the city cast into the body (Chicago or Schiller Park) and how the model number tells you the jaw size.
Then we look at finished sales from the Antiques Navigator price guide: 1940s user vises, Schiller Park 9350s, two-inch baby bullets, and what a missing swivel base or "for repair" does to the price. Every number comes from a completed sale, not an asking price.
