Illusion Pot — The Back Door into Dale Barn Cave | Yorkshire Dales Caving

Illusion Pot in East Kingsdale is the dry route into the far reaches of Dale Barn Cave, dug so cavers could reach passages that were once divers-only. Gareth Williams and Kendal Caving Club filmed this trip during a settled-weather window: the entrance duck needs bailing after rain and can only be bailed from the entrance side. The trip: a 30m descent on in-situ ladders, a crawl through Dale Barn 4, the muddy duck, the huge Expressway passage, the beautifully decorated Rushton Chamber with its flat, straw-covered roof, and the exposed Brunel Rift traverse down to the sump. ⚠️ For experienced cavers only.
