Pt. Pannalal Ghosh is a disciple of Ustad Allauddin Khan of the Maihar Gharana. He demonstrated how the bansuri (bamboo flute), which had been considered a folk instrument, could be used to play classical music by bringing in various innovations, including the bass flute. Pt. Nikhil Ghosh, on tabla, is a disciple of Pt. Jnan Prakash Ghosh, U. Amir Hussain Khan, and U. Ahmedjan Thirakwa. The second flute is played by Pt.
