2026 08 04 Finance Committee Meeting

With co-chair Daniel Schultz presiding, the district’s finance committee convened for its first meeting of the school year on Tuesday, August 4 in person at the Administration Building and on Zoom. The agenda included four items, starting with interim financial statements, which revealed tax collection was slightly ahead of where they were last year. Director of Business Services Josh Sweigard next updated the board and community on the state budget and its impact on Cheltenham. The district will receive more than $100K from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency; will apply for up to $5M from the Public School Facilities Improvement grant for HVAC and electrical upgrades at CHS; and cyber charter reform having to do with increased residency laws. Sweigard next reviewed the timeline for the independent audit, a process which will stretch through the end of April. Sweigard then reviewed items for approval at the next legislative board meeting, including approving a motion to use state funding to offset potential real estate tax increases as part of the Ready to Learn tax equity grant; change orders on the Cedarbrook and Glenside projects; and a bid to put padding on the three walls of the Myers Auditorium.
