Correction: Previous alternator conversion hence rather a jumble of wires where control box had been (not my work!). Rebuilt brakes, new tyres, new sills, new ns spring hanger. Sat unused for many years with parts missing. Now fixed the noise from the rear which was cured by a combination of a new rear UJ and retightening the new axle U bolts after the rubber insulators had compressed. I also changed the diff oil whilst up on the lift. Ditto the speedo drive cable which had just failed. Engine is running too cool. My laser thermometer says the block/head is around 65 degrees C. This after a 12 mile drive suggests to me that either the thermostat is missing or stuck open so a new 82 degree one has been ordered which hopefully means there will then be some usable output from the heater which is presently very underwhelming when driving. Still very much a driving project and I still have bodywork to tidy up and carpets and other trim etc to fit. Very pleasing to have the good fortune to get this far in 5 months from the unpromising start of a £500 spares/repairs project missing numerous vital parts. Reviewing the audio I lost count all the errs and umms in the narration - must try to think more before I speak in the next one. Lever arch shock absorbers should, of course, have been lever arm but I spent too much time in a past life in a traditional office so perhaps that's where it came from. Also I said tow plug not socket which is poor considering I have fitted numerous of both. I forgot to mention I fitted new Lockheed Delphi rear wheel cylinders not the inferior cheap pattern ones. Also a word to the wise, the cheaper pattern master cylinders are unsuitable to be adapted for disc brakes. It also had a new water pump and hoses. I fitted the high capacity pump with the longer impeller as there was enough depth between the mounting face and the outer wall of the front cylinder casting. This should be measured for clearance before ordering the deeper impeller version as it will not clear some engines that may be in your Minor. Like the rest of my classic petrol fleet its running on cheaper E10 with Flashlube additive unless the head is known to be unleaded. Its worth noting that E10 may contain up to 10% ethanol rather than it will. In the states some older engines have running without mechanical issue on up to 85% ethanol. Its a compromise but not a massive issue that scaremongers tend to make it out to be. Hardi pumps are compatible with these fuels as are the hoses I fit . This is particularly important on the pressurised side after the pump. I've yet to have a carb issue across the fleet that I can link to ethanol usage.
