De-tune yr guitar a semi-tone or half step down as follows e - d# or eb (High Thin String) B – A# or Bb G – F# or Gb D – C# or Db A – G# or Ab E – D# or Eb (Low Thick String) A guitar lesson where I show how to play the lead guitar parts for the song Thunderbird ala ZZ Top style (R.I.P. Dusty Hill their sadly departed bassist & 2nd singer). Notice I'm rockin' the the cowboy hat & SRV T-Shirt (R.I.P. Stevie Ray Vaughan) for a bit of a Texas Tribute. This is a souped up extremely fast Rock n Roll version that somehow in the hands of Billy Gibbons & his buddies still manages to swing. This is a tutorial for the intermediate to advanced blues lead guitarist with a knowledge of the minor pentatonic & the blues scale in C, finger slides & hammer-ons. Equipment used; My Chibson Les Paul with Ace Frelhey paint job. Modifications; Duesenberg Les Trem II, Tusq Xl nut by graph, roller saddles on bridge, a String Butler at headstock, Grover locking tuners & a wiring mod with a separate volume for the middle pickup that allows me to blend it in with any pickup combo or turn the mastser volume down & have the middle pickup alone. The pickup blend I used on this was, pickup selector on bridge position & middle pickup blending in on 6 to thicken it up. I programmed the bass & drum backing track in MIDI & played my guitar thru an old Roland GP16 Rack Mount FX unit & my voice thru an old Digitech IPS 33 for the vocal harmonies, these effect units live in my solo gig rig & can be also heard on my Live CD Vol. 1.
