The goal was to design a mower that would collect grass clippings without bulky, external tubes or hoses, so that the mower would remain compact enough to fit through tight spaces like fence gates and around landscape beds, while also maintaining the ability to trim with both sides of the mowing deck. So, Walker invented the internal Grass Handling System, known as GHS, and it remains the most efficient way to vacuum and collect grass clippings, leaves, or debris from the lawn.
