Ireland Football Team Press Conference Halted After Israeli Journalists Clash With Media Official

Tensions between Ireland and Israel intensified ahead of their UEFA Nations League clash after a heated exchange between Israeli journalists and Irish media officials abruptly ended Ireland’s pre-match press conference in Serbia. One journalist questioned Ireland coach Heimir Hallgrimsson over a FlyDubai incident, while another accused Irish players of calling Israeli players “monkeys” during their previous match. Irish officials rejected the accusation and ended the briefing. The fixture has faced opposition in Ireland amid criticism of Israel’s war in Gaza, with protests calling for Ireland not to play the matches. The Football Association of Ireland moved the fixture to Backa Topola, Serbia, where the match is being played behind closed doors. The FAI is also investigating allegations that Irish players Adam Idah and James Abankwah were racially abused during the previous 3-0 win over Israel. #ireland #israel #nationsleague #football #irelandfootball #israelfootball #uefanationsleague #backatopola --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dawn News English is your window into the latest news, insight, and features from South Asia and beyond.
