Secretary Bird: 100 Days From Tree Top to Snake Killer | African Savanna

Secretary Bird: 100 Days From Tree Top to Snake Killer | African Savanna. High above the African savanna, hidden inside the branches of an acacia tree, a remarkable hunter begins life. This cinematic wildlife documentary follows a Secretary Bird from its fragile beginning in a treetop nest to its transformation into a powerful ground hunter. The journey begins with eggs protected high above the grasslands. Then the shell cracks. A tiny chick emerges. As it grows, its body changes rapidly. Its wings strengthen, its legs become powerful, and eventually it takes its first uncertain steps onto the savanna floor. Here, everything changes. Unlike most birds of prey, the Secretary Bird spends much of its hunting life walking across open ground. It searches through grass and scrub for insects, lizards, rodents and snakes, using its remarkable legs and feet to strike and stomp prey. The young bird must learn through observation, practice and failure. Its first strike misses. Its next attempt gets closer. Then comes the ultimate test: confronting a snake. From a tiny chick high in an acacia tree to a skilled predator walking across the African savanna, this is the extraordinary journey of the Secretary Bird. Every life has a story.
