In this video, I demonstrate the simple method I use to find chords when creating guitar arrangements. The idea is based on a simple observation: every melody note belongs to three different diatonic triads. By learning a basic formula and applying what I call the 3+2 Rule, you can quickly generate chord options for any melody and choose the ones that create the strongest progression. Using the melody of Lille Petter Edderkopp as an example, I show how to: • Find the three diatonic chords that contain each melody note • Use the I–IV–vi formula across the entire scale • Choose chords that create smooth voice leading • Build a simple arrangement from a melody This approach is designed to be simple, practical, and easy to apply in your own arrangements. #guitar #guitararrangement #musictheory #harmony #chordmelody #guitarlesson #arranging #musiceducation #counterpoint #improvisation
