Winter Kayaking on the Upper Haw River

I finally got to paddle with Mike Hatcher, a subscriber I met on the banks of the Haw river a few months back. He brought his friends Kyle and Charlie. The three of us slide in for a beautiful afternoon of kayaking on the Upper Haw River. This is a stretch near Pittsboro, NC that runs from Chicken Bridge Rd to Bynum Dam at 15/501. There are some flat stretches especially on the front end of the run as well as at the end near the Bynum Dam slack water. The middle of the run is a great area for boogie water created by the braided river channel common to the Haw in this area.
