The new Rupes Mark V is here. In this video, Matthew Arendt and David Patterson unbox the new Rupes Mark V 15mm and 21mm polishers and share their first impressions after putting both machines in their hands. We’ve used Rupes polishers for years in professional paint correction, high-level finish work, and training at Gloss University. Rather than jumping straight into a full review, we wanted to take a closer look at what has changed with the Mark V and compare those changes to the previous generations we’ve spent years working with. In this video, we discuss: • Rupes Mark V 15mm vs. 21mm • First impressions of the new design • Mark V vs. Mark III • Vibration, smoothness and overall feel • Corded vs. battery-powered polishers • The redesigned backing plate • Why the new backing plate caught our attention • Foam vs. microfiber pad fitment • Where a 21mm polisher can improve efficiency • Why the 15mm may still be the more versatile machine • Choosing a polisher based on the work you actually perform Our initial impression? The Mark V is noticeably smooth, refined and quiet—but there are a few design changes we want to pay close attention to as we put more hours on these machines. This isn't our final review. We'll be using both the 15 and 21 on upcoming paint correction projects and Gloss University training vehicles so we can come back with a more complete evaluation after some real-world runtime. If you already own a Rupes Mark V, let us know in the comments: 15 or 21? And if you previously used a Mark II or Mark III, what has your experience been with the new Mark V?
