McDonald’s entered the Philippines with more capital, better technology and one of the most powerful restaurant systems ever built. Yet Jollibee built the stronger position in its home market. How did a Filipino family business that started by selling ice cream compete with the world’s biggest fast-food company? This documentary explores how Jollibee combined Filipino taste, emotional brand loyalty, industrial-scale operations and lessons borrowed from McDonald’s to build one of Asia’s largest restaurant groups. It is a story about localisation, supply chains, family marketing—and knowing which parts of a global competitor to copy and which parts to ignore. What was Jollibee’s greatest advantage: taste, culture or execution? Share your answer in the comments. Creator's Note ^^ - This time, I tried to do something totally new; new animations, new voiceover, and new style. I will cover more on business stories as well as economic, political stories of ASEAN and Asia. Jollibee's fried chicken are my all time favourtie. Macdonald's in the Phillipines also tastes pretty good. At least better than what I am having here in Japan.
