Baroque music for concentration and study, inspired by the court of Frederick the Great in Potsdam: 11 instrumental pieces (39 minutes) for work, study and quiet moments. Flute, string orchestra and harpsichord continuo, in the spirit of the Prussian court. Baroque, not crossover: no drums, no beat.
"Sans souci" means "without worries": the name Frederick gave to his summer palace in Potsdam. It seemed the right name for an album of focus music.
Each piece is paired with an imagined view in the style of 18th-century vedute, inspired by Potsdam: the palace of Sanssouci and its vineyard terraces, the New Palace, the Marble Hall, the Chinese House, the Dutch Quarter, and the parks and lakes along the Havel. Press play and let the day run.

🎨 About the images: vedute
"Veduta" is Italian for "view". In the 18th century painters such as Canaletto in Venice, and his nephew Bernardo Bellotto, who worked for the courts of Dresden, Vienna, Munich and Warsaw, made detailed, luminous cityscapes, and travellers on the Grand Tour took them home as souvenirs. Their trademarks are a wide horizon, clear light, tiny figures in period dress and buildings painted so precisely that you can still recognise them today.
I wanted this album to feel like walking through such paintings. For every piece I choose a place or a mood first, then I design the scene: composition, light, figures in period dress. I keep a level horizon and warm golden light throughout, so the images match the tempo and character of the music: the sunrise over the terraces for the opening, the round Marble Hall for the Adagio, the gilded musicians of the Chinese House for the Minuet, the Havel in autumn for the late-afternoon mood.
Some scenes show recognisable places: the palace of Sanssouci with its terraces, the New Palace with its green dome, the Marble Hall, the Chinese House and the Dutch Quarter. Others are imagined: the music room, the library, the park and the lake. None of them is an exact portrait of a place; they are interpretations. The flute-concert scene is a nod to Adolph Menzel's famous 19th-century painting of Frederick the Great playing the flute at Sanssouci.
🎻 About the music
Frederick II of Prussia was an accomplished flautist who wrote flute sonatas and concertos. At his court worked his flute teacher Johann Joachim Quantz and the harpsichordist Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, and in 1747 Johann Sebastian Bach visited Potsdam, where the king gave him a theme that became "The Musical Offering". The palace of Sanssouci was built in 1745–1747 as his summer retreat.
This album imagines the sound of an evening at such a court: the flute at the front, bright strings, ornamented melodies and a steady harpsichord continuo. It is original, AI-generated music in the spirit of the era, not a recording of historical works. The "Ricercar" nods to Bach's Musical Offering but is new music.

The music is AI-generated. I design the concept, the style and the structure of each album, generate the pieces with AI tools and then select, order and edit them into a finished album. The images are also created with AI image tools, in the style of 18th-century vedute. They are not original works by Canaletto, Bellotto, Menzel or any other historical painter.
