“The Reasons Aren’t on the Highway” was written for my husband to honor the sacrifices he made on the road—and the sacrifices we made together. For more than fifteen years, he worked as an over-the-road truck driver, spending countless nights and many holidays away from home. While he carried the responsibility of providing for us down the highway, I kept our world together at home. Together, we raised our two daughters and built a life we are both proud of. He still works hard delivering fuel to stations, helping keep the world moving. But now he has put in his time on the long road, and at the end of each workday, the highway brings him home.
