How does a camera this small make a bright photo in a dim room? We go inside a phone camera to follow the tiny lenses, moving parts, silicon sensor and multi-frame computation that build the picture, while showing why a larger professional camera still gathers more light in a single exposure.
From autofocus and optical image stabilization to photon noise and computational photography, this is the machinery behind the photo in your pocket.

VISUAL NOTES
The grainy pictures and frame-merging demonstrations are our simulations on stock footage or telescope images, not phone-camera output. Clean stock frames illustrate a result. Our 3D models illustrate typical designs, not a manufacturer's actual parts. Light-count estimates and numerical comparisons use illustrative camera and exposure assumptions, not measurements of a particular phone.
