Catalina Creel swore a spinning top had blinded her, and for 170 episodes all of Mexico knew the eye under that patch was perfectly fine. Cuna de Lobos premiered on Televisa on 13 October 1986, and forty years later two people from the Larios house are working side by side again: Diana Bracho, now 81, and Alejandro Camacho, 72, both in Hermanas, un amor compartido.
Bracho, daughter of the director Julio Bracho, won the 1987 TVyNovelas award for Leonora and the Ariel de Oro for her whole career in 2022. Camacho, the spoiled son Catalina lied and killed for, has two telenovelas on air in 2026.
María Rubio, the woman behind the patch, retired in 2011 and died in March 2018 at 83, four months after losing her son Claudio. Gonzalo Vega, the stepson blamed for that eye, died in 2016; his daughters Zuria and Marimar Vega carry on in front of the camera. Rebecca Jones married Camacho the same year the story began, played his scheming wife Vilma, and died of ovarian cancer in 2023 at 65. Carmen Montejo, the Cuban-born legend who once had a play banned in Mexico City on opening night, died in 2013 at 87.
