The Aliens Couldn't Understand Why a Human Had a Toolbox | HFY

The aliens had technology far beyond anything she knew, but they couldn't understand why a human technician carried a toolbox. When an energy wave strikes the space station's outer field systems, the crew scrambles to investigate. While the advanced alien sensors show no damage, Mara insists on manual verification of the synchronization chain. This story explores the friction between automated systems and the hands-on approach that defines humanity. It is a standalone HFY sci-fi story about why the little differences in our preparation matter most when dealing with complex alien technology. As the station's complexity grows, Mara reflects on the necessity of knowing how things are built from the ground up.
