Bernard Hickin | True Character Series

Until visiting a friend working at a winery, the idea of becoming a winemaker had never crossed Bernard's mind. "I remember the aroma of the reds fermenting. The vibrant purple colour of the red caps. It was just like being in another world." So he commenced a degree at the Roseworthy Agricultural College, focusing on winemaking with elements of agriculture. The course would influence his lifelong philosophy on grape growing and vineyard regions. Since joining Jacob's Creek in 1976, Bernard has seen the winery expand and refine its approach to winemaking. Well respected within the wine industry, his passion and enthusiasm has inspired a raft of young winemakers to pursue their dreams too.
