Today we are going to talk about godly friendships using Daniel as a case study because two are better than one. “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”-Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Esita le Jesu a ne a na le bakhotsi, rona re bo-mang? Daniel in chapter when he did not want to defile himself with the king’s food, he was the one who asked for an exception from Ashpenaz but he asked for it to extend to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo. He basically did not just want to live a godly life in the everyday, he wanted to live it WITH THEM so they grow together as they learn how to have principles and be consecrated to the Lord. In chapter 2 when king Nebz wants to kill all the wise men, astrologers, and magicians because he had a dream that is stressing him out, joale he does not want to tell them the dream; he instead says tell me my dream and then interpret it (so smart). Daniel asked for more time to come with the interpretation and ha fihla hae he called in his friends hore owele let us pray to God for mercy to reveal this mystery king Nebz has placed before us. Kea e rata nthoeno, they are growing together spiritually because when God answers them autloa they will all have a new revelation of who God is. At the end of chapter 2 when the king is impressed that Dani actually knows the dream and its interpretation and he promotes Daniel to be a ruler over the entire province of Babylon, guys Daniel requested that the king also promotes his friends to be administrators over the province of Babylon. That is so beautiful because he doesn’t just say don’t worry guys I will be praying for you to get a promotion because it was something he could do something about. Owelee I want to be that kind of friend, Lord. Daniel is not entitled, he doesn’t say “aee guys I earned this because I am the one who asked for more time, that we should pray, and I am the one who got the vision for the king so I kinda deserve it.” He pulls his people up with him, so beautiful!!! I love their friendship because it is well rounded in that they grew together both physically and spiritually. It also taught me that Godly friendships are not just that I have a friend who is Christian, but we also actively pursue Christ together. Ache e ntle nthoena, to be a friend like Daniel and to have friends like Daniel is the chat!!!
