Hon. Justine Nameere is a Ugandan lawyer, television personality, philanthropist and politician who has built a career spanning media, public service and politics. Over the years, she has become a familiar public figure through her work as a television presenter before transitioning into active politics and eventually representing Masaka City in Uganda's Parliament.
Born on 17 April 1989 in Masaka, Nameere is the daughter of veteran Ugandan politician Vincent Ssempijja, who has served in several ministerial positions. She attended Namugongo Boarding Primary School before studying at King's College Budo. She later pursued legal studies at Makerere University, earned a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, and also completed additional studies in business administration and counselling.
Before entering frontline politics, Nameere established herself in Uganda's media industry. She began her television career at NTV Uganda, where she hosted the popular programme Life Stories, a show that focused on real-life experiences and inspirational interviews. She later worked with Urban TV, Bukedde TV and Salt TV, becoming one of Uganda's recognised television presenters through her discussions of social issues and human-interest stories.
In 2012, Nameere founded the Voice of the Pearl Foundation, an organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable people, particularly those facing serious health challenges. Her charitable work helped expand her public profile beyond television and politics.
Nameere entered active politics through the National Resistance Movement (NRM). After participating in youth politics and contesting several elective positions, she secured the NRM flag for the Masaka City Woman Member of Parliament seat. Following a closely contested election and a court-supervised vote recount, she was declared the duly elected Woman Member of Parliament for Masaka City in Uganda's 12th Parliament.
Throughout her career, Nameere has remained an outspoken public figure, frequently commenting on governance, leadership and community development. Her transition from television to law and politics has made her one of Uganda's more recognisable public personalities.
Like many high-profile political leaders, Nameere has occasionally been the subject of public debate, political disagreements and media attention. Some matters involving her have attracted significant public interest, while others have involved legal or political disputes. As with any public figure, it is important to distinguish between allegations, political claims and facts established through official processes.
Today, Justine Nameere is recognised as a multifaceted professional whose career has combined broadcasting, legal practice, philanthropy and public service. Her journey from television presenter to legislator reflects her continued involvement in Uganda's social, political and community development.
