Mercyhurst scored two shorthanded goals in the second period and went on to hand Syracuse its first loss of the season, 5-2, earning a split in the weekend series. Freshman Mariia Polozkova (Moscow, Russia) posted her first two-goal game of her career and added an assist to lead the Lakers offensively. It was sophomore Julia Perjus (Stockholm, Sweden) and Polozkova who scored shorthanded in the second, sandwiched around a Syracuse goal to give the Lakers a 3-1 lead. Polozkova’s second goal came with just 0:00.3 left in the second to make the score 4-1.
