🎣 DRAGO CUSTOM RODS | LEGEND 3-DAY CHARTER RECAP! 🐟🔥 Just got back from our annual 3-day charter aboard the Legend! With Hurricane Rachel on the horizon, we knew Mother Nature might have other plans for us, but we were determined to make the best of the hand we were dealt! 🇺🇸 A SPECIAL SEND-OFF! On our way out, we had the incredible opportunity to see the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) returning from deployment. What an awesome sight! A huge THANK YOU to all the brave men and women who serve and protect this great country! 🇺🇸🙏 🐟 DAY 1: TANNER BANK TUNA ACTION! We headed straight to Tanner Bank looking for tuna. The bite was a slow plunker, but we managed to pick away at some quality fish. I was the first to hook up, landing a small BFT on a sardine using 30 lb fluorocarbon and a #2 Drago Ringed Circle Hook. Later that day, I hooked into something with a little more attitude! 💪 A solid 55–60 lb yellowfin tuna, caught on the same 30 lb setup. Both fish were landed on my limited-edition UC "The Green Monster" custom rod! 💚🐉 For anyone wanting to fill their bags with rockfish, the deep drops were wide open. All the rockfish you wanted! 🔥 THEN CAME THE TOPWATER MADNESS! Later in the day, Capt. Frank spotted a school of yellowfin jumpers in the distance. We rolled up on them, and what a sight! 50–80 lb YFT launching themselves completely out of the water! 🤯🐟 The guys throwing clear poppers were getting bit, and luckily, I was one of them! There's NOTHING like watching a big yellowfin explode on your popper! Seeing that blowup and feeling the rod load up is what makes topwater fishing so addictive! My setup: 🎣 UC 9E custom rod ⚙️ Shimano Tranx 500 💪 50 lb leader 🔥 Drago Clear Popper with upgraded heavy-duty BKK treble hooks Watching that yellowfin crush the Drago popper was definitely one of the highlights of the trip! 🌴 HEADING SOUTH FOR EXOTICS! We eventually made our way south toward Ensenada, where wahoo had been showing up. Unfortunately, the exotics didn't cooperate for us this time. With the weather starting to pick up down south, we made the call to head home a little early. Safety always comes first! 🤙 ANOTHER GREAT CHARTER IN THE BOOKS! We may not have had wide-open fishing or perfect weather, but we had some quality tuna, exciting topwater action, plenty of rockfish, and most importantly, an awesome group of guys sharing laughs and good times on the water.
