A Pragmatic War by Compass Games - First Year Solo Playthrough

On the table is a game mechanic I have wanted to try for a while - the No Peace Without Spain! system created by Don Herndon. A Pragmatic War: The War of the Austrian Succession 1741 – 1748 is a two-player game designed by John B. Firer and now sadly out of print from Compass Games. I am going to play the first year of the war to demonstrate how this very clever card-driven system works, and show off how it can model a dynamic conflict of shifting political loyalties and strategic maneuver from varied major and minor European powers.
