METALITE's Edwin Premberg on DISCOVERY, Sci-Fi & the Future of Metal

METALITE mastermind Edwin Premberg joins KillerTube to talk about the band's upcoming album **DISCOVERY**, the continuing sci-fi story behind METALITE, songwriting, production, Jacob Hansen, new drummer Erik Junttila, and the future of metal. Founded by guitarist Edwin Premberg in 2015, Swedish melodic metal band METALITE have spent their career building a futuristic sound that combines melodic and power metal with electronic and cinematic elements. With **DISCOVERY**, the story continues from 2024's *Expedition One*. Humanity has left Earth behind and arrived on a distant planet — and the new album picks up the story as that new world begins to reveal itself. Edwin explains how the concept developed from *Expedition One*, how he incorporates elements of the story directly into the songwriting, and why he expects the METALITE story to continue across future albums. We also get deep into the production of *DISCOVERY*, including the decision to bring the guitars further forward, add more chugging and low end, and give the bass and drums a bigger role in the mix. Edwin also talks about working with acclaimed producer **Jacob Hansen**, who has worked with METALITE since *Heroes in Time*, and the impact of new drummer **Erik Junttila**, whose first album with the band brings a new level of power and authenticity to the record.
