Why can a design work perfectly in a classroom but fail outside? Join Phillip Cofield, Ed.S., to investigate how the conditions around a product influence design decisions—and how a product affects the environment throughout its life cycle. Follow an outdoor school supply-station challenge. Connect heat, rain, humidity, condensation, sunlight, ultraviolet exposure, wind, dust, noise, and vibration to design requirements. Explore material selection, ventilation trade-offs, repairability, resource use, fair testing, and evidence-based conclusions. QUIZ AND THINKING TIME This lesson includes three Pause & Think checkpoints and a ten-question A–D quiz. Every question is narrated with all four choices. After the complete question and spoken pause instruction, the full question remains visible for five silent seconds. Use your player's pause control whenever you need longer. Each question is worth 10 points. Goal: Score at least 90%—get at least 9 out of 10 correct. All ten quiz questions appear before the separate answer review, which explains every answer. Classroom test results and panel-lifetime comparisons are invented teaching examples, not published study findings or product certifications. Test unpowered samples using teacher-approved procedures. This lesson addresses the supplied objective; it does not claim complete alignment to an unseen examination. Instructor: Phillip Cofield, Ed.S.
