Have you ever said yes to something and regretted it almost immediately?
You didn't really want to do it. Maybe you didn't have the time, energy, or even the desire to do it.
But somehow, saying “no” felt harder than saying yes.
I've been thinking about why we do this.
Sometimes nobody is actually forcing us. We just don't want to disappoint people. We don't want to seem selfish, rude, difficult, or uncaring.
So we say yes.
And then we're the ones left dealing with a commitment we never really wanted to make.
In this video, I'm having a conversation about people-pleasing, guilt, expectations, and why saying no can feel so uncomfortable—even when we know it's the right answer for us.
Because there's a difference between choosing to make a sacrifice for someone you care about and saying yes simply because you're afraid of how they'll react to your no.
And here's the question I've been thinking about:
If you only said yes because you were afraid to say no… was it really a yes?
I'd love to hear your experience.
What is harder for you—saying no or dealing with the guilt after you've said it?
