Have you ever caught yourself doing something and suddenly thought, “Oh no… I sound exactly like them.” Maybe it's the way you react when you're angry. The way you avoid difficult conversations. The way you work until you can't rest. Or the way you try to control situations because it feels safer. You may have spent years promising yourself you'd never become that person. So why do certain patterns still show up in your life? In this video, we explore the psychology behind learned behavior, childhood experiences, habits, stress, personality development, attachment, self-discrepancy, and identity — and why we can sometimes repeat patterns we consciously wanted to escape. But there's an important twist: being influenced by your past doesn't mean you're destined to repeat it. Your brain learns patterns. Stress can make familiar responses easier to fall back on. But personality can also change, and becoming aware of a pattern can create the opportunity to respond differently. Maybe you're not becoming the person you promised you'd never become. Maybe you're finally noticing the parts of yourself you never realized you learned.
