Irohascamera Nikon 17-35mm purchase

Purchase made on Sep 30th on a Nikon 17-35mm F2.8 ED lens. Zoom action makes clicking noise and is consistent across the range. The Autofocus motor is squeaking -- which I knew is the case; but the AF is also not consistent where at 35mm it hunts continuously and gets focus when zoomed out to 28 and back to 35mm... The lens in the shipment box was moving around, with bubble wrap inside, but the lens still bouncing around inside the box.
