Dark Elements in Children's Books - Peter Rabbit

The Tale of Peter Rabbit is a pretty typical children's book. At least it is if you overlook this one unusual section in the book. Where it is surprisingly dark for a children's book. I have no idea why the author decided to include this in the book. But when I first read it I thought it was very odd to include it in a children's book. And what is even more unusual is the fact that I had a more recent publication of Peter Rabbit, where this part was censored out. So clearly the publisher thought it was too dark for a children's book too. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
