Namsai, August 24: Namsai Police have recovered 19 children from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh and arrested three alleged facilitators in a suspected child trafficking and exploitation case. The children were recovered from locations including Mechuka, Aalo, Pasighat, Naharlagun, Itanagar and Longding. The case was registered at Namsai Police Station on August 17 following a complaint by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Namsai. Police said the accused allegedly targeted economically vulnerable families by promising better education and care for their children. Some children were allegedly transported and placed with different persons, with suspected payments ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹50,000 per child in certain cases. The arrested accused have been identified as Gumnya Kochung, Marta Ete and Neha Gerory. Police said some recovered children were allegedly engaged as domestic helpers and in hotel-related work. A Special Investigation Team is continuing the probe, examining financial transactions, call records, digital evidence and the movement of the children to identify other persons linked to the suspected network. Police said the recovery operation is ongoing and appealed to parents, guardians and members of the public with relevant information to approach the nearest police station or CWC.
