Located on the southern coast of Oaxaca province, Playa Zipolite is part of the Riviera Oaxaqueña, which includes the nearby beaches of Puerto Angel and San Agustinillo. Playa Zipolite is about 1.5 km long and 30 to 40 meters wide, and is made of medium grain golden sand. It is a surf beach with medium to large waves, and strong undercurrents. The beach is bounded by rocky outcrops from which you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Pacific ocean and the entire beach. The little cove at the eastern end, called Playa del Amor, is mostly frequented by the gay community.
