He performs regularly in most of the West European countries, as soloist with harpsichord recitals and with the Quadro Hotteterre, an ensemble consisting of Kees Boeke and Waiter van Hauwe (descant and treble recorders), Wouter Möller (baroque cello and violoncello piccolo) and Bob van Asperen (harpsichord). An Edison was awarded to this ensemble in 1973 for their recording on HMV of French and Italian baroque music. Bob van Asperen also took part in a great many other recordings, among them the playing of continuo parts with the Collegium aureum; with Gustav Leonhardt he recorded the pieces for two harpsichords from The Art of the Fugue by J.S. Bach. He not only works as a performing musician but also as a musicologist, as such giving lectures on the liistorical performance practices of music in the period between 1600 and 1800. Bob van Asperen was appointed professor for harpsichord and ensemble playing of old music at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and the Municipal Conservatory of Arnhem in 1972. BOB VAN ASPEREN studeerde na zijn gymnasium-opleiding aan het Conservatorium te Amsterdam clavecimbel en orgel bij Gustav Leonhardt en Albert de Klerk. In 1971 sloot hij zijn studie af met het behalen van het solistendiploma "Cum Laude". Hij geeft regelmatig concerten in de meeste Westeuropese landen, zowel als solist in clavecimbelrecitals als met het Quadro Hotteterre, een ensemble dat bestaat uit Kees Boeke en Waiter van Hauwe (alt- en sopraanblokfluiten), Wouter Moller (barokcello en violoncello piccolo) en Bob van Asperen (clavecimbel). Aan dit ensemble, dat verscheidene grammofoonplaten op zijn naam heeft staan, werd in 1973 een Edison toegekend voor een HMV-opname met Franse·en Italiaanse barokmuziek. Bob van Asperen werkte aan een groot aantal andere grammofoonplaatopnamen eveneens mee, o.a. als continuo-clavecinist met het Collegium aureum en met Gustav Leonhardt in de stukken voor twee clavecimbels uit de Kunst der Fuge van J.S. Bach. Behalve als uitvoerend musicus is hij ook werkzaam als musicoloog en als zodanig geeft hij o.m. lezingen over de historische uitvoeringspraktijk van de muziek uit de periode tussen 1600 en 1800. In 1972 werd hij benoemd tot hoofdleraar clavecimbel en ensemblespel oude muziek aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium te 's-Gravenhage en aan het Stedelijk Conservatorium te Arnhem.
