We are “Marine Blue Daisy,” a three-piece girl band with an average age of 18, who grew up in Nagasaki. “1945" is a new song we wrote about the Nagasaki atomic bombing, and it will be featured in a special 24-hour YouTube program on August 9, 2025, the 80th anniversary of that day, to be broadcast to the world by NCC (Nagasaki Culture Broadcasting Corporation), a TV station standing about 1.2 km away from the hypocenter of the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki in 1945. By this spring, when we were high school students, we had distributed our music, released music videos, and released an album, and had packed our one-man live concert in Sasebo, Nagasaki, to capacity. In April of this year, Amane (guitar and vocals) and Reika (bass and chorus) moved to Tokyo to continue their activities, but since their new song was chosen as the theme song for a TV program about the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, they decided to take a step back to confirm their identity as musicians from Nagasaki. After going through the process of confirming my identity as a musician from Nagasaki, I wrote the song “1945” about the atomic bombing with all my heart. Eighty years is a lifetime. As the number of people who tell their stories of war and radiation exposure is gradually decreasing, the program staff entrusted me with an important role: "I want the younger generation to sing about peace through music. I was puzzled by the huge theme, but I wrote the lyrics, put them to a melody, and played the instruments, thinking of my hometown in Nagasaki in 1945, from the city of Tokyo where I would begin to live in 2025. We hope that the finished “1945” will be a requiem that transcends time and space. We thought up the content of the music video, shot all the shots in Tokyo and in Nagasaki City, and edited the video ourselves to complete it. We included many scenes that would give you a hint of the song, such as places associated with the atomic bombing, everyday Nagasaki scenery, and even the beautiful coastal scenery that has watched over Nagasaki.
