This has to be my favourite day of the trip! The weather was sunny and warm and the coastal path was fairly easy going with plenty of stunning views and the Song of the Sea Cave to explore. First we arrived in Sennen Cove and sniffed out our first pasty of the day after a gorgeous walk along the beach. Proper Job! We rounded the headland and spotted Lands End and the famous lighthouse out on the reef, which looks alot like our home island Guernsey's Hanois Lighthouse. The rocks here start to change appearance and there were natural sea arches everywhere. We came across Nanjizal Bay and watched seals hunting in crystal clear turquoise seas. What a treat! There was also a cave, perhaps an old mine entrance which was interesting. We wanted to take a swim in the bay and look for the Song of the Sea Cave and we found it and it was singing as the wind whistled through the eye. We decided to swim through the eye of the cave (as it was fairly calm) around the headland and back into the bay which was a brilliant swim adventure, although Guzzy got a bit too close to the rocks for my liking!
Carn Les Boels was further around the coast and the rock formations looked like stacks of coins, totally amazing scenery. Porthgwarra and the hand carved tunnels for seaweed gathering were really interesting and as we headed out of the cove we spotted a man ahead of us with a catch of the day, bass I think, from spearfishing.
The Minack Theatre had a country rock band playing and we listened to the soundcheck as we walked by. Porthcurno was absolutely stunning and we watched swimmers in the bay with some gentle rolling waves. So idyllic. Our final destination was Penberth Cove, a quaint little harbour and we walked up the hill to find a really nice pub called Logan Rock Inn and ate/drank very well and enjoyed a fun double decker bus ride to our digs in St Buryans. What a day! - amazing!
