God is Teaching Me How to Run My Business I A Word In Season

When we started our short-term rental business, I learnt quite early that I didn't want to build it without the Lord. We partnered with Him from the beginning, but this year something has shifted, God has taken the lead. He has been teaching me, correcting me and bringing certain things to my attention about the way I run the business. Integrity. Excellence. Stewardship. Customer centricity. Maintenance. Systems. And, perhaps most importantly, how we care for and honour the people He brings through our doors. For a long time, our maintenance was largely reactive, something would break and then we would respond. God began challenging me to think differently: to be proactive, to maintain things properly, to put systems in place and to pursue excellence in the things He has entrusted to us. He has also been teaching me to think from the perspective of our guests. Our main guests are families, particularly multigenerational families, and our desire is to create a home away from home. That means thinking carefully about the details, including whether our kitchens are adequately equipped to allow a family to prepare and enjoy meals together. In this video, I take you into one of our kitchens and share some of the practical things we are putting in place. But more than that, I share what God has been teaching me about allowing Him to lead the business. I've also been thinking about ownership in a different way, when we own things as children of God, those things can become conduits through which God reveals Himself and expresses the values, principles and ways of His Kingdom. There is therefore value in owning and stewarding things well, because what is in our hands can be used for His purposes.
