POV: 6AM in Hanoi 🍂 20°C | Autumn Leaves, Street Dancing, Hoan Kiem Lake & Local Life Experience Hanoi at 6AM in the cool autumn air at 20°C on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, as we take a relaxing 4K walking tour through the French Quarter and around Hoan Kiem Lake. Starting on Hai Ba Trung Street, we pass the historic Pho Tu Lun at No. 24 Hai Ba Trung, where local diners are already enjoying breakfast. The walk continues past Trang Tien Plaza and into the heart of Hoan Kiem, where weekday traffic creates an authentic view of Hanoi's morning street life. At Hoan Kiem Lake, vibrant street dancing suddenly brings energy to the peaceful autumn morning, with Western visitors happily joining local dancers. We continue around the lake and see preparations for the October 10 fireworks event while visitors enjoy taking photos among the beautiful flowers and lakeside scenery. At the Octagonal Pavilion, several groups gather for morning dancing and exercise, creating a cheerful and relaxing atmosphere for both locals and visitors. We then pass the quiet entrance to Ngoc Son Temple and The Huc Bridge, offering a peaceful glimpse of one of Hanoi's most historic landmarks. Near the Monument to the Determined to Die for the Fatherland and Den Ba Kieu, locals enjoy badminton and other morning activities around the lake. One of the most memorable moments is a joyful birthday celebration organized by a group of around 20 street dancers, complete with flowers, balloons, fruit, banh mi, milk and lots of laughter. Our walking tour continues through Lo Su Street, Nguyen Huu Huan Street and Hang Thung Street before stopping for a delicious banh mi breakfast costing only 25,000 VND, about US$0.96. Along the way, you can see real Hanoi streets, hotels, laundries, travel offices, accommodation, currency exchange services, SIM cards, phone shops and everyday local businesses.
