Karuizawa Wild Bird Forest at 27-29 April 2026 My first summer bird season has arrived since I've developed a real interest in wild birds. So, I made a trip to the Karuizawa Wild Bird Forest. On the first day, the chance of rain was 100%, so I arrived in the afternoon to scout the area. However, there were some birds I saw that day only. The next day, I arrived early in the morning and was greeted with a stunning appearance of a Blue-and-white Flycatcher right before my eyes. At lunchtime, a two Blue-and-white Flycatchers flew in, making for a truly enjoyable experience. And then, the final day. A Siberian Blue Robin, which people had been saying they could hear but hadn't seen properly, suddenly appeared. Before that, a Japanese Bush Warbler emerged from the bushes and showed off its song. It was a very satisfying trip. Of course, I also encountered Narcissus Flycatchers and Eastern Crowned Warblers many times, and managed to record plenty of Wren songs. Incidentally, I used a Zoom M4 MicTrack to record the Wren's song in 32-bit float mode. The only disappointment was that although I could hear the calls of the Japanese Green Woodpecker and the Japanese Bush Warbler, I couldn't find or photograph them. I'll have to try again next time. I've put together a vlog-style video in chronological order, so I hope you can get a feel for the atmosphere of the day.
