Haweswater reveals the lost packhorse bridge of Mardale Green in this drone footage captured as water levels at Haweswater Reservoir dropped, exposing parts of the historic landscape that have remained hidden beneath the water. https://austwick-media.co.uk/ We headed out to Haweswater in the Lake District and got the drone up in the air to capture some incredible aerial footage of the reservoir and surrounding Mardale Valley. After all these years of visiting and photographing the Lake District, this was something particularly special. We were finally able to see and capture drone footage of the old packhorse bridge associated with Mardale Green. The village of Mardale Green was lost when the valley was flooded during the creation of Haweswater Reservoir. When water levels fall, features of the old landscape can occasionally begin to emerge again, offering a fascinating glimpse into the history beneath the reservoir. From the air, the drone gives an incredible perspective of Haweswater, the exposed shoreline, old tracks and features of the submerged Mardale landscape. For us, this wasn't just another day of drone filming and landscape photography.
