“If the Bodos are removed from Assam, what will Assam lose? The Bodos are an integral part of Assam’s history, culture, identity, and heritage. Assam is incomplete without its indigenous Bodo people.” The protest addresses the removal of the Bodo language from the official entrance gate banner of the Assam Legislative Assembly.  Constitutional Rights Violation: The removal affects constitutional dignity, linguistic rights, and the cultural identity of the Bodo community.  Call for Accountability: Protesters are demanding immediate restoration of the Bodo language on the assembly gate, constitutional recognition, and accountability from the Hon'ble Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly. The Bodo language is an officially recognized Scheduled Language under the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India (included via the 92nd Constitutional Amendment Act, 2003).  Preservation of Identity: Protecting the language is directly linked to respecting and safeguarding the cultural identity, heritage, and dignity of the Bodo people.  Linguistic Equality: Ensuring its presence on official state institutions upholds equal representation and constitutional protection for indigenous linguistic communities.
