If you could send your love across the world on a thousand wings, where would you ask them to carry it?
Thousands of Wings is a deeply emotional cinematic ballad about loving someone from afar—and choosing to send them tenderness instead of asking them to return.
At sunset, a woman stands alone above the sea.
The wind moves through her hair. Birds gather above the cliffs and begin their journey across the water.
She watches them and makes one quiet request:
Carry what my arms no longer can.
She gives them the smallest memories she still holds—the sound of a beloved voice, an evening coat damp from rain, a kiss upon her hand, crooked footprints left together in the sand.
She gives them every word she never had the chance to say.
And then she asks them to fly.
“Thousands of wings, carry my heart
Over the water, wherever you are.
Carry the love I could never let go;
Find you in places that I’ll never know.”
She does not ask the person she loves to come back.
She does not want her sorrow to become their burden.
She asks only that wherever they are, whatever life has become, they might somehow feel the warmth of the love that still remains.
That is the heart of Thousands of Wings:
“All of my love in their voices—
None of my grief at your feet.”
Led by a tender female head voice, Thousands of Wings surrounds its melody with angelic female harmonies, pan flute, crying violin, mournful cello, delicate whistle-register notes, cinematic strings and distant birdsong.
The music begins almost like a prayer, grows into an orchestral expression of longing, and finally returns to something fragile and intimate.
But even after she has entrusted everything to the birds, letting them go brings another kind of heartbreak.
Because sometimes sending love away means accepting that it may never return.
“I gave you all I had to say—
Why does it hurt to watch you fly away?”
And as the final wings disappear beyond the horizon, only one truth remains:
Wherever they fly, I am still loving you.
