Work upon Yourself

[verse] If you think that the work you’re doing is truly important, then the very first thing you must do is work upon yourself. Everything you do is an expression of who you are. [chorus] This is the problem with the world — most people are suffering so many things, an enormous amount of stress in their day‑to‑day activity just to make a living, which every worm, insect, and bird is doing. [instrumental interlude] [bridge] But human beings, with such a huge brain, are going through such struggle just to earn a living — simply because they try to enhance their activity instead of enhancing the person. [final chorus] It is like taking your old, beat‑up car onto an F1 racetrack — it’s going to fly in different directions. You need the right machine to get onto the track; otherwise, it’s just wasteful striving.
