Five new Indian airports due to be open before 2030, from Pune's Purandar to Noida's Jewar, and the new cities being planned around each one.
Every airport gets an official status: approved, under construction or open.
This documentary counts down from the furthest behind to the furthest ahead. Purandar near Pune, with two planned 4,000-metre runways and 75 million passengers a year, still in land acquisition. Dholera in Gujarat, a small terminal built next to a 920-square-kilometre industrial city and a semiconductor fab. Bhogapuram near Visakhapatnam, open since August 2026 and built to grow from 6 to over 40 million passengers. Navi Mumbai, aiming for 90 million by 2032. And Jewar, which opened in June 2026 with one runway and room planned for six. Plus the big Chennai airport that dropped off the list.
Which of these five airports do you think will change its region the most by 2035, and why?
