Professor Colin Lawson and Dr Ingrid Pearson perform George Frideric Handel's Overture HWV424 on two 3D-printed copies of the early two-keyed clarinet by Gerog Henrich Scherer and held in the collections of the Royal College of Music Museum. They are joined by Gavin Edwards on the horn.
The copies were produced as part of the project '3D Printing of Musical Instruments for Musicians: From Theory to Practice', supported by the Wolfson Foundation and the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in 2024.
The project explores how 3D printing technology can help researchers, performers and audiences engage with historic musical instruments, allowing rare museum collections to be studied, heard and experienced in new ways.
