Created specially for Seoul Light DDP 2023 under the theme “Digital + Nature”, Meta-Nature AI is a monumental generative video work by Miguel Chevalier, a pioneer in digital art. Projected onto the sweeping curves of the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, this 10-minute digital fresco invites viewers into an immersive, poetic and algorithmic garden inspired by the four seasons. 🌀 Using a database of real and abstract trees, leaves, and flowers in 2D and 3D—now enriched with AI-generated images from text prompts—the work evolves in real time: blooming, shifting, fading, and reappearing in infinite combinations. 🌸 Spring erupts in shimmering blossoms, 🌞 Summer bears lush fruits in surreal colors à la Arcimboldo, 🍂 Autumn brings swirling leaves and transparency effects, ❄️ Winter strips the branches to reveal mystical bark in a spectral glow. Through Claude Micheli’s generative music, the plants seem to dance in a luminous vegetal tornado, evoking both Monet’s Water Lilies and Rousseau’s exotic jungles. This digital impressionism becomes a meditative ballet of biodiversity, urging reflection on the fragile harmony between nature and technology.
