Beatty - Waiting It Out Travel to Willipeg. Harvest a moose downed from a hunting stand It took me a while to get around to this mission - I wanted a rifle with enough punch to take one out rather quickly, so I went with the 7mm Express Magnum. The .270 can do it, but even if you hit the lung it'll run quite a distance before taking a fall. The annoying thing about Beatty's missions is that they focus on moose, and you can't buy a Moose Caller until you reach level 35, which in my opinion is way too high a level. (The Red Deer Caller is at level 27, and the Distressed Fawn Caller that can be used on bears is level 25.) I guess the idea is that you can go do missions in the other reserve, but I wanted to finish Layton Lake before moving on. Hence, most of Beatty's mission won't utilize the caller. Without the caller you are at the mercy of RNG. I got to the hunting stand just after 5am, but nothing came along until about 9am, when there were plenty of moose drinking in the surrounding area. Even then, you are at the mercy of RNG for where the moose will come in from, where it will go, and what kind of shot you can make. This moose was quite happy in the bush, and didn't seem to plan on stopping, so I had to make do with what I had. Luckily the shot landed and I got to move on from that hunting stand!
